White privilege is the fleshlight brand of sex toys carrying an entire line of pink/white skinned masturbation sleeves AND alien-like masturbation sleeves and dildos but only one single product that emulates non-white skin (which I almost overlooked because it looks more like tanned white skin)

White privilege is not being happy about the fact that there’s a website whose SOLE PURPOSE is pointing out how great your life is.

White privilege is being able to still be considered a decent person despite your racism.

White privilege is using “brush up on your history” as an argument, when chances are the history they’re referring to was written by white dudes or taught by white dudes.

White privilege is Ryan Lochte being a very public moron without being called a bad role model or an embarrassment to his people.

Mod note: Serena Williams crip walks and she’s a disgrace. Ryan Lochte publicly embarrasses himself on a daily basis and it’s cute. Huh?

White privilege is being singled out as the one with messy hair, even though all the white girls on the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team had the same hairstyle.

White privilege is when an NBC reporter says, “I bet African American girls everywhere would want to be Gabby right now.” But if it were just a white girl, the adjective African would be omitted and “American” would thrive alone.

It’s also having the same NBC reporter saying, “The barriers have long since been down, but sometimes there can be an imaginary barrier based on how one might see one’s self.” Nice to hear from a white reporter that racism no longer exists, and the “imaginary barriers” that exist are self-imposed….

White privilege is when you can have an incredibly lackluster showing at the Olympics, but still dominate all of America’s coverage of the events.

White Privilege is the insanity plea.

POC with mental illness are still just criminals, white people are “just a little crazy”. White people get pity. White people get help.

Like, let’s try this: WHY THE FUCK DOES ANYBODY NEED TO BE TOLD RAPE JOKES AREN’T FUNNY is kind of like WHY THE FUCK DOES ANYBODY NEED TO BE TOLD GIGGLING ABOUT LYNCHING IS JUVENILE AND CRUEL. Or, here’s another: laughing at/telling rape jokes is a pretty clear indicator of how little you can personally identify with the very real consequences of a very real act, just like laughing at/telling lynching jokes is a pretty clear indicator that you’re so so so white, and have never known and will never know somebody who was lynched (though you might know somebody who did the lynching).

This is long but FUCKING WORTH READING. I could cry for days and still not be over it. It isn’t about me getting over anything and I’m GLAD I won’t just move past it. I don’t think I can ever separate myself from this again. I acknowledge all the privilege I have — my whiteness and my being male. I want to work against it in every possible way I can. I will work against it. Dismantling, unpacking, all of those things. In every single move I make, I will see my privilege and I will learn more and more about what it means and what it is ruining.

Just fucking read this and step back and listen to it.

I’m just gonna reblog this because, apparently, people still don’t get the idea that rape isn’t the subject of ridicule or joke or that rape isn’t cute or something you wish upon yourself or other people. EVER.

It’s bad enough to say that rape is funny, but PLEASE don’t go so far as to say that you wish someone would rape you because you think it would be enjoyable and sexy and amazing. That’s just inconsiderate to those who have actually experienced instances of sexual violence and makes their trauma seem like something that’s enjoyable and fun which it is NOT.

Seriously, just read this article to educate yourself on the subject of rape culture because this is something that people need to get into their minds. No, seriously, READ THIS ARTICLE.

Oh God, don’t ever get me started on Dan Savage! He seriously needs to stop and just disappear!

  15. Fellow cisgender individuals, this link includes a pretty accurate depiction of how people with cis privilege have advantages in social settings that we probably never thought about or ever had to worry about. It’s important to know our privilege as people who identify as cisgender. Privilege is always something to be aware of.
